Roadway Mill and Pave, Southern Hills, Concord NC

Crown Paving paver and crew laying a roadway through a manufactured home community

A private roadway through a community is paved to the same specification as a commercial lot but under a harder constraint: the people who live on it need to get in and out while the work is happening.

Crown Paving milled and repaved 15,260 square feet at three inches, 293 tons of surface course, sequenced so residents always had a route.

The speed hump is the detail worth naming. Rather than paving over it, the old one was milled out to two inches and rebuilt to specification: 12 feet 8 inches wide, 6 inches high, with a 6 inch heel joint on both sides so it meets the road cleanly instead of leaving a lip that catches a bumper. It was repainted with white triangles to match what was already there.
