ADA Parking and Pavement Markings at Harris Teeter, Charleston SC

ADA parking stalls and markings at Harris Teeter in Charleston SC

Accessible parking has the least tolerance for approximation of anything in a parking lot. Stall and access aisle widths, the slope of the surface in every direction, the route from the stall to the door and the signage at the head of the space are all specified. A lot that has simply been restriped to whatever layout it had before can be out of compliance with nothing about it looking wrong.

Crown Paving laid out and marked the accessible stalls here to specification, with the access aisles and symbols applied in the same pass as the rest of the markings.

Charleston sits low and close to the water. Settlement is an ordinary condition on the coast rather than an exception, and an accessible route that met its slope requirement the day it was built can drift out of tolerance as the pavement underneath it moves.
